Yeah, I'm not saying we should do away with all discrimination laws. On the contrary, I think they're needed. But if mtl1 owns a shop - I want to know who he's not going to serve so I can spend my money some other place.
And having seen racism as part of a mixed couple, I know how disgusting people can be.
Curious, what have you seen? We have been looked/stared at, but never anything overtly racist, just felt like we were a novelty.

This was 40 years ago in Chicago - which has NO problem now with mixed couples. In fact I was surprised you're still having issues, but ymmv depending on where you live.
At any rate, my black girlfriend and I were stared at, pushed into walls, 'accidentally' bumped into aggressively while walking down the street, called all kinds of names, spit on more than once, she was accused of being a prostitute, I was accused of being her pimp. It was disgusting.
I thought we were through with this. 40 years later it's still going on? How disheartening.

Be honest, was it just white people hassling you? I'm sure if you went into a black neighborhood, you would've been hassled more.
Tell that to diversity. They're the ones who act the most discriminatory. About any time a real American goes to an ethnic business or enclave they're treated discriminatorily.
I did not hear about any problems with Navajo or Cherokee in Ethnic places.

No, it wasn't just white people, but we had fewer issues in her neighborhood than we did in mine.
