Greg Craig found not guilty in Ukraine lobbying case

A jury acquitted former Obama White House counsel Greg Craig Wednesday on a felony charge of intentionally misleading the Justice Department about his lobbying work related to Ukraine, but Craig’s defense team complained bitterly that the prosecution was a “disgrace.”

...
Two jurors who spoke with reporters had a somewhat different take on Craig’s conduct than Taylor. They said the jury acquitted Craig because of what many would view as a technical issue.

Because of the statute of limitations applicable in the case, the judge told jurors that they could only find Craig guilty if prosecutors showed beyond a reasonable doubt that Craig concealed a material fact about his Ukraine work after Oct. 3, 2013. At least some jurors believed Craig had lied before that date, but they found a lack of proof he did so after that point, the two jurors said.

About three hours into deliberations Wednesday, the jury sent out a question asking the judge to explain why the indictment referred to a scheme stretching from June 2013 to January 2014, but they were told only to convict Craig if he took steps to conceal something material after Oct. 3, 2013.
Jackson called in the jurors and told them the date was dictated by “a legal issue which is outside the jury’s concern.

Interesting that the judge confined the jury to only deal with a certain time frame.

Judge was Obama appointee Amy Berman Jackson who also sentenced Manafort.

See how that works? Complete corruption in the legal system by Progressive judges protecting their own. She needs to be disbarred.

Greg Craig is the ultimate chameleon swamp dweller. Do you think there was a snowball's chance in hell he would be convicted?

We know how the left is corrupt.. Tony Podesta got immunity while Manafort sits in jail and they did the same thing.. Mueller gave immunity to Podesta, why not Manafort given immunity and go after Podesta..corrupt bias. that is why!

"Because of the statute of limitations applicable in the case"

The case is not about the accused crime, because time ran out. It's about if an ongoing conspiracy was used to continue to cover their tracks concerning the alleged crime.

I believe that's correct.

Yet Trump should be exempt from any investigations or charges for anything he may have done before taking office, right?

Mueller is a Republican, appointed to the job by another Republican.

And Manafort was given a deal by Mueller but then Manafort lied and the deal was canceled. It is his own fault that he is sitting in jail. But I am sure that one of Trump's last acts as President come January 2021, he will pardon Manafort.
