This scenario is what has driven Yang and others to propose UBI - universal basic income. More and more people are going to be displaced from work by robots and AI. So whether the company is taxed on its corporate profits or taxed on its robots does not matter, what matters is if a large fraction of Americans are out of work because they are all displaced by technology you have to take money from the companies and give it to the public that has been affected. This is the idea of UBI. This is the future of the world. We will all be on welfare.

Which is total crock. It is a disincentive to work, and for society to innovate. See post #2. When we switched from the horse and buggy to cars, the people that worked for the buggy makers, buggy whip makers, and horse stables went to work at Ford, and elsewhere.

Reminds me of sienfled character Kramer who went on stike for 12 years and never looked for another job. Pathetic, does society no good. May as well join NYC teachers in the rubber room and do nothing contribute nothing.

The robot maintenance team will tend to be much smaller than the workforce the robots would replace due to the tendency of tech to be centralized.
I also don't agree with government meddling as the solution, but these large corporations are screwing themselves in the long run, because if everyone is automated out of a job, how will they buy the corporations' products?
The few who remain employed to keep the automation running will not be enough to sustain the economy.
