Ah, there it is. You wish for the ultimate nanny state, where if you disobey orders you will face the ultimate penalty.

Republicans literally want to make the U.S. into a fundamentalist Christian version of Iran or Saudi Arabia or perhaps even worse. They want religious authorities to micromanage every aspect of everyone's lives with the ultimate penalty to anyone who shows any kind of resistance. In Republican dream land, if you get caught doing something the church doesn't like, such as smoking or even possessing marijuana, you get executed within 24 hours? How can people who support those kind of policies say they are for freedom and small government?

Drug laws were made to punish minorities and the poor.

I think in 10-15 years, after the Christian Right no longer controls this country, everyone will be asking why marijuana was ever illegal to begin with.

I'm currently facing a $2K legal bill for quietly smoking in a backyard of a private residence. I was in Manhattan, KS, a couple of weeks ago, on tour with my band. A local cop that was driving by (in the alley) said that he smelled it, and for the next hour and a half, after he found a gram of stash and pipe, he questioned me and my two bandmates. We all refused to claim ownership and he gave us each a $2,500 ticket. And these tickets require us all to appear in court even though we live 1,000 miles away.

I volunteered to accept responsibility for answering to the citation and appearing in court (rather than all three of us), but he refused, insisting that whoever accepts the responsibility had to admit guilt on the spot. Of course we all refused. Two of us have hired local attorneys.

How is this protecting or serving?
Jesus. This is so backwards. The puritanical roots of this nation can't die off fast enough imo.
