The minute that medical marijuana was legitimized it should have been dropped immediately.

YO opium and cocaine are MAN MADE and pot is not. It is just a plant..You do know the difference dont you?
It doesn't matter to them. What matters is that it's an intoxicating substance, is opposed to their religious beliefs, and is widely associated with demographics and cultures they are disgusted by i.e. "good people don't smoke marijuana". Since it's 2019, that is enough to make sure it remains illegal.

The only reason you are probably okay with alcohol being legal is because it's such an integral part of western (and specifically white Christian) culture. Marijuana on the other hand is widely used by and associated with demographics you don't approve of.
