Macron made a speech about it and he got it right. Economically, politically, socially the Far East is going to be calling the shots this century.

The World Island is the next great power.

It is inevitable. China and India have huge populations and they are both working hard to modernize. China is ahead but India is poised to jump next. The US economic dominance has been declining for years; this has long been projected. The key for the US is not lose its dominance technologically.

At the same time East and South Asia are getting more advance and wealthy, the West (U.S., Canada, Australia, Europe) are busy importing vast amounts of third world people that will eventually outnumber the natives and also bring these countries down to the level of the third world countries the immigrants came from.

China will be beset with social and political unrest. A wealthy populace will not knuckle under to authoritarian rule. Hong Kong is just the beginning. For the US it is the other side of the coin. An impoverished and declining one seeks out autocrats. We see this in the US today with Trump, in Europe with various right wing populists.

Well, it's not like it's the first time this has been said. Many people already have considered the U.S. to be in decline, and Trump is making things worse by undermining our international alliances, lessening our clout.

Yes, the United States is no longer the world's only superpower. The American empire and world dominance peaked a long time ago and our power is slowly ebbing.

Unfortunately we have a president who is intent on accelerating that decline. We need our allies like Canada, Mexico and Europe to help keep what power and influence we have. Trump seems hell bent on cutting or diminishing those ties, to our detriment.

Absolutely spot on, although I think that China will break dissent and social unrest, as brave as these people are in Hong Kong, I fear their days are numbered. The U.S. has been imploding as the wealthiest 1% have staged a smash and grab for decades.

This latest tax give away by Republicans to the 1% is another sledgehammer blow to our foundation, and it is teetering badly.

I think it’s up in the air. America could lead the next century if we step up our game.

If there is a decline it is slight and is mostly political. The problem with the west today is a lack of vision of where and what it wants to be at the end of this century. We are approaching the third decade of the 21st century and not one Western leader has shown any inkling of imagination. Not any for decades. It seems as if leaders fear to express it and people fear to elect it.

Now, all leaders want to do is "consolidate their base", and all the people want to do is feed the animals.

With no direction populations destabilize. With no societal purpose people degenerate into selfishness and public service atrophies. The decline is slight, now, but it is not holding fast.

Israel is our only ally - all the rest you think are allies are in fact merely dependents. President Trump sees this, and it is time you opened your eyes to that reality.
