I can't imagine the NFL cutting colleges out of this incredibly lucrative resource, that is basically free to the college. Offering a free ride doesn't cost the school much, at all.

This article I read followed one second tier football player, full scholarship, but he wasn't a starter. He often went to bed hungry - literally - because the dining halls closed while he was still at practice and he had no money at all for food. And that was acknowledged, so accommodations were made for athletes to have late dining hall hours. Because yes, the University agreed, these students don't have any money to go to McDonalds, yet the university is bankrolling itself off their abilities/sweat.

The thing that chapped me the very most, was when a university trademarked jersey goes on the market with a specific athlete's name on the back, the athlete gets not one penny from that sale.

I can see why the athletes would start to think they were still back on the plantation. Seems like indentured servitude.
Is the system any different at HBCs? Do they pay royalties to players for jerseys with their names on them? Do they pay them a stipend to play? If not, how is that any less indentured servitude than playing for a non HBC?

The post was about the idea of supporting segregation , not specifically schools, so we arent going to play that narrowed scope game.

Why pretend threads about black cities and "bad" black political mayors arent racial and about segregation. All these threads about putting "black money" into black communities , so on and so forth.
nope. i was taking you at your word, which you now can't defend.

still waiting to see all those 'entire threads.'

White liberals allow blacks to say some of the most racist and vile stuff. The big problem is the white liberal, and white liberal runned institutions who virtue signal and feel sorry for black folks.

If white folks get upset at what black people say. You white folks need to start checking your white liberals who allow blacks to say behind cringe rhetoric that goes beyond the overton window.

If something was taken from black people.....by another group of people.....it becomes racist for blacks to mention what the other group of people did, as well as, racist to say black people should try to get anything back. In fact, any reaction from blacks to what happened to them, other than turning the other cheek, is to be construed as racism/racist.

I'm too lazy to look up all of this but there is a move on many colleges and university to have separate housing and separate areas for non-white people to go to as a "safe space" from white people.

I know here in the local So Cal area CSLA was doing this.

This is being brought on and requested by non-white people.

Can you imagine the ****storm that would occur if white people were calling for this???

I find this repugnant and I don't care what flavor of person is calling for this. It's stupid, and not useful at all. It just drives a wedge between people is all it does.

Tribalism much??

Here are some of the additional perks\Considerations:

1) Soft money, help for family etc. If they're a big enough name to have meaningful jersey sales you can bet that if their mom needs a good job that she will get one. You also may get a bag full of cash handed to your uncle. That stuff is rampant and well documented.

2) Fame. That means groupies as well as job opportunities past college, often in sales etc. positions.

3) Vastly lowered admission standards.

4) The additional money they may earn is used to subsidize all the other sports programs that typically lose money basically the womens sports. You want players to benefit from their sports $$$? Well then that means the other sports that are money losers would be penalized if you want to be fair about things.

Lastly, indentured servitude is a contract that cannot be exited by the servant. The scholarship recipient can leave anytime they want. To conflate a willing contract with IS is frankly offensive to those that went through the latter.

no coyness here. it's sad that you so often puke up whattaboutisms that you can't even defend in order to avoid addressing the topics you're posting in.

But you have....you have been doing this to others for centuries. What do you think white flight was all about? I can show you school districts and schools, currently, where the white student body has drastically reduced as blacks started enrolling in the district or schools.
