Cruz had to educate them as to what a machine gun is. Sad

All she had to say is, "Isn't it worth trying?" As if begging and pleading will cause people to give their guns to the govt.

She just assumes that her way is right.

Sad someone had to explain the logic of measurement. Maybe, might, could, possibly. She wants to do everything and see what sticks. The problem is, no politician will back down even if given data it doesn't work.

OK - I just watched the first 10 minutes. This is not a debate.

I probably will not watch the 1hr+ debate. Here's a 2 min. summation from a news program:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FysSmoIlCJU

It appears that Cruz and Milano parted on very good terms.

Cruz makes a point I had not seen about the Odessa mass-shooter. This shooter had tried to buy a gun at a licensed dealer, and failed the background check. Likely he lied on his application form about his history of mental illness. Under a bill proposed by Cruz and Chuck Grassley (R,IA) there would have been follow-up of this, and possibly prosecution for lying on the form, a felony. Such cases are currently prosecuted very rarely.

I'm just listening as I do something else.

Just watched the second 10 minutes... this is basically CNN.... 3 on one side against a conservative. I don't think he said five sentences up to around the 18 minute mark.

I would suggest to Milano, since she is in the entertainment industry - to urge people in her industry to cease the use of guns in their TV and film making. Because I bet about 60% of whatever crap is produced out of Hollywood is a problem solved with a gun.

Next 10 minutes... Cruz lands a haymaker. If you want to skip in the video - it's around the 27 minute mark.

Cruz's focus is on getting the guns out of the hands of the bad guys and the mentally ill, but not law abiding citizens.

He mentions killing in Sutherland Springs. He cites it as a system failure, not a gun control issue. The shooter was ineligible to purchase a firearm - on two counts. His crimes were committed while he was in the Air Force during the Obama administration, and they were never recorded. So he lied on the form saying he didn't have a felony, and there were no crimes recorded in the database.

He continues and says that if legislation that he and Chuck Grassley sponsored has passed - which would have strengthened the background checks - the number killed in Sutherland Springs would have been zero. Both the guy in the glasses and Milano physically had a simultaneous reaction to that.

30-40 min... Cruz gave statistics from studies illustrating that crimes were no coming from certain types of gun sales. They heard none of what he said, and went back to the talking points about should we exhaust all available avenues to limit guns.
