That is painting all people with a broad brush. Yes there are people here, and everywhere, who use childish name calling rather than logic and that is true for all sides of any debate. But it is not true that nobody who comes here ever modifies their thinking based on what gets posted here. Just because you don't hear about it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I am speaking from my own experience. The arguments that do capture someone's attention are those that are well constructed and based on facts rather than emotional rants.
Ted Cruz is a fool to do this. There is no upside for him. If he wins the debate, its no big deal as he was expected to wipe the floor with her. If he loses or even if she holds her own, he will be disgraced.
Yup. And a politician bickering with a private citizen always ends up with more damage for the politician than the private citizen.
Milano would not have to win the debate to humiliate Cruz. She could just stand there and insult him with every word and get away with no damage to her, and Cruz could not get back at her. If he did, it would come back at him in his next election as sure as the sun comes up in the morning.
Cruz is either mighty stupid or mighty cocky if he agrees to do this 'debate'.
Never underestimate an actor. Actors are real good at memorizing their lines and are real good at improvising when they need to improvise a line.
Milano will come prepared with a bunch of stuff committed to memory, and she can express emotions better than Cruz, because that's all part of her profession.
Acting is what got Reagan elected twice, along with all the other actors who were elected to Congress. And got Trump elected too.
Trump never went to acting school, but 10 years of 'The Apprentice' taught him everything he needed to know, and he used it in the 2016 debates quite well.
Trained actors don't get tongue-tied when they speak. They never stammer. They don't have to pause and think about what they will say next. They all have more quick come-backs than anybody, and they know how to broadcast their emotions. They know all the right words.
Now what I would like to see is Alyssa Milano go up against another actor, someone like James Woods. That would be something to watch.
Win or lose, Cruz will come out humiliated and one more notch lower on the political ladder than when he walked in.
