This is what I see. When Booker T. Washington said "we can be as separate as the fingers and one as the hand", this made many southern Whites at the time very happy. He didn't buck against the Jim Crow climate. He accepted it. People were okay with it, until Black people started becoming having self-determination and independence. Separate but equal was never meant to be equal. It was meant to keep Blacks in a position of subservience. It was to keep Blacks from becoming competitive. Blacks being competitive was considered a threat at the time.

Anyone who has black neighbors, coworkers, friends or family members has skin in the game. Heck anyone who has black countrymen has skin in the game, and that would include all Americans. We all have skin in the game.
