Surely this is just racist and there must be thousands of videos of whites beating the crap out of teachers. Not sure I’ve ever seen a single one.

Wild guess, you want segregation made the law of the land in schools.

I grew up in the suburbs/exurban areas. I don't know a single Black kid who ever put their hands on a teacher. I knew some kids, both White and Black who cursed out teachers, but never hit them. Sounds like this is mostly a problem in the ghettos.

My best friend taught 4th grade in a school outside DC, and had 4th graders taking swings at her, threatening to kill her. My friend is all of 105 l s, very soft spoken, polite, and fair. You can guess the race...
The parents would not support the teachers.

I really don't care what race that kid was. I think race is more important to you. What is important is this. What kind of parent raises a kid to be so violent? Where did that kid learn how to be so violent? I never saw any kind of violence from 4th graders when I was a kid. It was unimaginable to see any kid, Black or White, swing at a teacher. I've been in public schools from K-12. My experience in elementary school, I never saw or heard of any kid in any of the schools I went to, hitting another teacher. Between 3rd and 5th grade, I went to elementary school in Savannah,GA and Marietta,GA. In one school, Blacks were about 30% of the student body. In another school, Blacks were about 40% of the student body. I never saw or heard of any violence from students towards teachers. Of 25 kids in my class (homeroom) in 5th grade, there were about 13 Blacks, 7 Whites, 3 Hispanics, 1 Middle Eastern, 1 South Asian. No one in the class ever swung at the teacher. The worst I ever saw was a kid backtalking a teacher. I was in a sketchy area at the time (my family and me would move to a more rural area soon after). And this was in the 1990s.

I'm wondering what part of DC your friend taught at.

It would be a tragedy for the teacher not so much for the young, urban, inner city youth.

I think the key word here is inner city. I was raised in the suburbs much of my life. The kind of violence seen from young Black girls in the inner city, I saw much less violence from Black girls in the suburbs or rural areas. Violence can happen (I've even been a victim of it). However, it is far more rare from suburban Black girls or Black girls in rural areas. At least that is my experience. A better question is this. Why is inner city violence so commonplace.

The teacher doesn't want to be in that school. The students don't want to be in that school. Why do we keep thinking this situation can be fixed. Just let it burn itself out.

They should be prosecuted. And hopefully it will happen. And the thing about school shootings, it is this wholesale "nothing personal" kind of violence.

As for the kids that do such things to teachers, I wonder how many of those kids will be in prison or dead by age 25.
