Basically, letting the tangible infrastructure in America rot in exchange for a school system which is mainly sub-par, with of course exceptions to the rule. But in general, America could care less about physical, tangible infrastructure investments that make a difference and would rather spend it on free government child care for a dozen years followed by another half-dozen of indoctrination much of it in subjects that people can learn on their own.

The government spends over 900 billion on intangible education for K thru college while only 137 billion is spent on infrastructure.

There is 400 billion college students spend on tuition and fees but much also comes from the government.

Basically, America's infrastructure falling apart now can be blamed on the fact the country is spending a fortune on a 13 year complementary baby sitting service followed by 4 to 6 years of indoctrination sitting in lectures for around 1,000 hours and taking 100 or so exams to prove knowledge on subjects that can be looked up on a search engine in less than a minute.

Amazing, America spends $1.3 trillion on government indoctrination programs yearly between public schools and universities and only 137 billion dollars on non-defense infrastructure things like roads, bridges and mass transportation.

But how else could we hope to gender confuse and shame 50% of America's males, ushering in the collapse of western civilization? If you want an ultra modern "progressive" society, everyone must pay dearly. Maybe that's why everyone complains they need two jobs to get by today.

Is there a reason why state governments depend on handouts ( socialization) from the Federal Government to address basic infrastructure needs?

Federal tax levels crowd out state tax levels.

Indoctrination: I want the same monopolized entity that I admit has completely botched sector x (public education) to divert its time/money/resources to sector y (infrastructure) but this time I expect different results.

Yeah, that's indoctrination right there. Insanity too.
