Whether or not to have one is a personal decision that only you can weigh the pros and cons of.
I think most of us agree with that statement. But it does not seem to be what Bent is asking. He seems to be suggesting that if you don't have a gun, there must be some kind of issue with you. (The you, obviously, being generic here)
There is somewhere between 300 million and 500 million guns in the US, and somewhere around 99.99% of them will not be used to murder or accidentally kill anyone.
Calling BS on that 'study'.....Run by 2 uber liberal schools, lead by an uber liberal, reported in an uber liberal rag. Polled only 4000 in the liberal Northeast.....Looks like they got the results they were looking for.
Gun owners always lie in surveys anyway, 1) to make sure no one finds out what/how many they have. 2) to screw with the liberals running these polls....
Running that poll in TX or AZ would yield slightly different results
C'mon now.. how many of your friends who have guns have like 8 or 10 rifles and pistols? I know that's what I used to have and hunting buddies. It's the inner city kids that have guns that are unaccounted for that would skew things.
I am a responsible American citizen ,there is no reason for me not to own a gun.
IN fact I see it as a responsibility that I be armed. Not just for the self protection from the crazies but the incompetent government that seeks to devalue my rights.
If you don't like guns ,put a sign on your front door saying so .

"Most of us" apparently doesn't include much of the Left, who wishes to dictate whether and what type of firearms the citizenry is allowed to have.

I think some people go too far with wanting to ban some guns. I don't feel that wishing guns were more regulated is an afront to the Constitution or their fellow Americans. But I know many do.
It's not why I should NOT have a gun, it's why should I have a gun--no reason to have a gun. Not interested. Guns are boring to me. It's safe here. We have strict gun laws. The only dangerous wild animals here are bears and I avoid them by not going into the dense woods and not leaving food outside.
I don't care about guns and do not think about guns. I should not have one because it would be a waste.
I shouldn’t have a gun because I haven’t been trained to shoot or about gun safety. I have nothing against guns, and if I get one, I’ll make sure and learn the things I don’t know.

Of course that means 10,000 guns are used to kill other people every year.

No one I know has that few......but what really is unaccounted for are the unregistered and homemade guns. And I think there are few gun owners that only have 1 or 2.......more likely 4-5 average. But no one really knows how many guns or gun owners there are in America.
The ATF says 400 million, but that number is likely very low.
