So the first article is bare-bones reporting. The second is from a “right wing” site, and possibly leans into conspiracy theory.
This is one HUGE reason why we have such problems getting people on the same page in this country. The first article reads like the “journalist” couldn’t be bothered with this nothing of a story, when there’s obviously something strange here. I live near where this crash happened.
There’s nothing much there. It’s too far off I-80 for the truck driver to have been getting gas or for a pit stop. We have a CDC quarantine facility nearby? Maybe. If there really was a big man hunt for the monkeys, why? It’s not like they’re a danger to anyone or anything. Unless they’re carrying some disease.
Speaking of, if this witness to the crash really was told to monitor herself... and why not show the documentation? Then the second article says three of the monkeys were euthanized. Doesn’t say why. Maybe they were too injured? But not saying leads to speculation.
They were likely being used for coronavirus research according to this article. Still sad they killed them. They could have been just as easily captured with a tranquilizer gun.

Vaccine research
The vehicle was transporting Cynomolgus monkeys, also known as long-tailed macaques. The animals can cost up to $10,000 each (E8,800) and have been in demand for coronavirus vaccine research, according to the New York Times.
To add an interesting conspiratorial aside, since they seemed to be in such a hurry to kill these monkeys...when a Moderna truck crashed in my state they shut down the interstate for an entire day. Very unusual. Reporters not allowed anywhere near the site. If that wasn't weird enough, airspace was closed off too. Right wing sites were the only ones to pick up that part of the story. Many posters were called liars. But it DID happen.

That’s another good example. When there’s definitely more to the story than what we’re getting from the ‘mainstream’ news, many people recognize that something is missing. But others, because the right sort of reporter or agency didn’t say so, will not only deny the story is a little suspect, but will denigrate those who want to talk about what is not being said.
If those monkeys were being used for coronavirus research, what else could be unleashed on us, accidentally?

I agree. (can't rep again) The situation with the monkeys is very odd and creepy.
Since you live near there you know how cold it's been. The monkeys are only 3.5 lbs and it appeared at first that the urgency for capture had a humane aspect to prevent them from freezing to death. Now it appears they may have been carrying something dangerous. I have to wonder, why else would they kill them? I don't trust safety protocols with these labs at all. Maybe because I saw the movie "Outbreak" with Dustin Hoffman again recently.
Something is missing with this story they are keeping from the public. Many in the CDC have Secret and Top-Secret security clearances so we will never know.
Speaking of, if this witness to the crash really was told to monitor herself... .
"Fallon was contacted Saturday by the CDC and was told to monitor herself for any cold-like symptoms."
"B virus infections in people are usually caused by macaque monkeys. These kinds of monkeys are commonly infected with B virus, but they usually do not have symptoms, or have just mild disease"

Go watch the movie: "28 Days Later", and perhaps you'll learn something... Let's hope it's not that...
I just came back to post this. Hope she’s okay. Can you really get rabies from saliva?
And I’m still curious to know where, exactly, this truck was heading. I see the witness said the incident happened near the intersection of 54 and I-80, but the trucks stop at the Buckhorn exit for the Travel America, not Danville.
Most curious of all, they euthanized the escapees, but not the other monkeys?

The more our scientists try to "play God" with animals and their experiments the more likely it is that something lethal will be created and kill us all.
