Firing employees because they believe in science, nothing new with this administration.

Quote:
WASHINGTON — The Secretary of Commerce threatened to fire top employees at NOAA on Friday after the agency’s Birmingham office contradicted President Trump’s claim that Hurricane Dorian might hit Alabama, according to three people familiar with the discussion.
That threat led to an unusual, unsigned statement later that Friday by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration disavowing the office’s own position that Alabama was not at risk. The reversal caused widespread anger within the agency and drew criticism from the scientific community that NOAA, a division of the Commerce Department, had been bent to political purposes.

Pathetic administration. Don't bow down to your supreme leader, you're fired.

Every utterance of the Dear Leader is the absolute truth and is not to be questioned. Those who do not obey will face consequences. At least no one is being banished to the Gulag. Yet.

If true, that Ross person needs to be fired.

Will have to look, but I am sure such a threat to fire unless violate regulations, or if anything, against department policy...OIG anyone?

Ross just another corrupt Trump administration member.

One who was on the board of directors of a bank proven to have laundered Russian monies.

That unsigned letter is a threat, certainly worthy of an IG investigation.

Now that you mention it ... ask and ye shall receive ...

The NOAA Inspector General launched an investigation today to determine whether the Jacobs "official statement" violated departmental rules. The NYT updated an earlier story to include:

"The National Weather Service “must maintain standards of scientific integrity,” the inspector general, Peggy E. Gustafson, wrote in a message to NOAA staff members in which she requested documents related to Friday’s statement. The circumstances, she wrote, “call into question the NWS’s processes, scientific independence, and ability to communicate accurate and timely weather warnings and data to the nation in times of national emergency.”

Ross has always been a hack. And a Trump sycophant. Trump has this philosophy of always hitting back harder. This was a misstep. It's not in his DNA to grasp the commitment that scientists have to what they do.

Trump knows more about the weather than meteorologists. "Tonight's forecast--dark. Turning to scattered light around dawn..."
