Child marriage, many wives to one man....vastly younger than him, of course.
Young men who are competition sent off the plantation. Education withheld. Lots more....

Should that be legal? They are building in TX, UT, CO, SD and many other places. They do not believe in the US Government they live under....not at all.

When you read the book, which I highly recommend, you will see that was not an option. Good thought though.

Would you be happy if an Indian or Pakistani grabbed onto THAT culture? Is that western culture? Pornhub and watching the most popular videos (which tend to be fake of incest......"step sisters", etc.)??????

Take a few minutes and read this:
https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/b...ges-successful

"Indians have an astonishingly low divorce rate. Despite doubling in urban areas since 2007, only about 1 in 100 Indian marriages end in divorce. This is one of the lowest divorce rates in the world. Even more impressive is the second statistic, about the high levels of satisfaction reported by those in arranged marriages over the longer-term.

A recent study of relationship outcomes among Indian-American couples married either through free-choice or arranged marriages for about a decade found absolutely no differences. Those in arranged marriages were just as satisfied with their marriage and loved their partner as intensely as those who wed through free-choice"

So, what do we say when presented with proof? Is a 50% divorce rate better than 1 or 2%?

Which has more "traditional family values"?

Don't you think most of the American marraiges over the centuries have been arranged in a sense (inside class, religion, approved by parents and society)???
We get it. You prefer non-Western culture. So move to a third world country.

You pick the worst examples of people in the US to attack Western ways. What do you expect? That everyone be perfect? Of course there will be deviants.

Do you think forcing a 13 year old girl into an arranged marriage and forced to live in a third world country is a wonderful idea? It sure sounds like you do That's despicable.

Give it a rest

When she saw us she would always smile and wave and I would wave back and say "hello' to her. One day, the police were at their house. Two days later we saw in a local newspaper that she was missing. Apparently, she walked to work and one day she didn't show up. Later she called her family on a throw away phone to tell them she loved them. Eventually, she returned home. After that, we never saw her again. I figured she ran off because they were going to send her to Pakistan for an arranged marriage. It saddened me that she returned home knowing what would happen (if my feeling was correct).

When our daughter was in middle school, one of her classmates, who was Pakistani, showed up in school wearing an engagement ring. She told everybody that she was engaged to a man in Pakistan. The next year, the family sold their halal store and were gone from the community. My gut feeling was that they all went back to Pakistan and forced her into a marriage. I felt so bad for the girl. She had been in school with our daughter since kindergarten. Back then it was clear that her family wasn't taking very good care of her and her 2 sisters. In kindergarten, all her baby teeth were rotten. Eventually, she got to a dentist. I used to volunteer in school. In the second grade, she showed that she was a good writer and would write long stories. I used to tell her that she did a really good job. One day, when I said that to her, she smiled shlyly and said to me "I like when you tell me that." I worked in the local library which was near their family's halal store. They used to send their daughters to the library where they would stay until closing time. She always hated to leave.
She now is in her early 30s. I often wonder what her life is like as it saddened me to see what was done to her, and no doubt, her sisters, too.

There was another Pakistani family in our neighborhood who also shipped their daughters off to Pakistan for arranged marriages.

Where I live now, there is a woman who covers from head-to-toe with only her eyes showing. She won't talk to anyone. When the staff at the front desk greets her when she comes in the building, she ignores them. I guess she's not allowed to talk to anyone even to say "hello"

Honestly, it disgusts me when these people refuse to assimilate and embrace Western culture. Why come here if you hate the culture so much? It's heartbreaking to see girls who were forced into arranged marriages and sent to live in a third world country.
To parasite, prey and impose upon the Western Culture host. But the left doesn't let the Western host protect itself anymore, because they are doing the same thing.

Your solutions? It's easy to point the finger, but what would you do about the FDLS, Koresh and the 100's of other communities like his and the folks in these articles?

Do you want Big Government Cameras and Microphones in every home?

One must have solution if they are to have any cred. The idea of "western culture" - does that include unlimited opiates, pot and meth.....and all the other stuff we westerners are enjoying too much? Why aren't we protecting ourselves and others against these things?

My solution is not to allow non-Westerners and anti-Westerners to immigrate and come here to parasite, prey and impose in the first place. Just like it was before 1965 and then we can go back to a more libertarian government because we'll have real citizens again who don't need monitoring by a police state.

I read this book in almost record time for me reading a 270 page book. The book is absolutely fantastic! If true (more on this qualification bellow) the West is faced with some horrifying problems. The first two-thirds of the book reads like a real-life Stephen King novel; the world of some Muslim "families" is one of violence and extreme sexual perversion. Love is replaced by domination and hatred. Contact with the outside world is kept strictly limited. Any violation of the strictures results in severe beatings, and sometimes rape. The subject of the book was regularly raped from age six until 16, when she fled.

Why did she flee? She fled from an arranged and forced marriage to a distant relative in Pakistan. Her family did not let her be. At one point her father located her. He headed up a 40 member gang of knife- and hammer-wielding assailants. I won't spoil how she avoided being killed (spoiler alert). But the world she fled to was infinitely kinder, more loving and fairer.

But back to the topic. At school, when Child Protective Services got involved after she was beaten by her father, they used a social worker from "the community." He immediately protected the family's "honor" by ratting the girl out, resulting in another severe beating. The question is, why, in a free country, are not the victims of these sick criminals like the father not protected? Why no prosecutions? The existence of no-go zones where the law's writ does not run is a cancer.
Thanks for the heads up, I'm interested in the book. I watched a story about two girls who defected from Saudi Arabia to Turkey, they were sisters and their father was trying to find them and bring them back to Saudi Arabia, where they could have been killed. In these instances the Saudi govt. sends out people to find the escapees, and what they return to could ultimately be an execution. These girls explained they had to have a male chaperone their entire life! And they married whoever the family wanted them to marry, their only reason for existence, it seems, is to have children. Truly a barbaric, backwards culture that is steeped in violence and sexual deviancy.

When did polygyny become legal in the US? It hasn't. And child marriage? The head of the FLDS church was sent to prison because of it, whenever that was--a couple decades ago, or so. From Wiki:

Quote:
Warren Steed Jeffs (born 3 December 1955) is the President of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS Church), a polygamous Mormon denomination. In 2011, Jeffs was convicted of two felony counts of child sexual assault, for which he is currently serving a sentence of life plus twenty years.
They may choose not to believe in the US gov't's authority over them, but the gov't can raid their communities whenever it has just cause, whether the residents "believe in" the gov't or not. Your own linked articles is headlined "Lawmakers Going After FLDS Polygamy Compound..", so why are you misleadingly posting that what they do is legal?

Not sure how certain unfortunate situations among certain ethnic groups equates to no rule of law in ethnic enclaves in the West. It’s amusing how desperate some of you are to maintain your prejudices.

Arranged marriages is more a cultural than religious thing.

Daughters/ wives were viewed as chattel. Fathers routinely sold their daughters to the highest bidder or as payment of debt. Women had no rights.

Arranged marriages were the norm throughout the world until the 18th century. Likely, most of us are descendants of an arranged marriage.

It is still relatively common in some cultures, especially in India and Pakistan. A very young girl may be engaged or married. Consummation of the marriage typically occurs no earlier than the onset of puberty.

It was and continues to be a practice in some Fundamental Mormon Sects and Orthodox communities.

Marrying outside one’s faith is considered taboo in many cultures.

The so called Virgin Mary would have likely been age 9-12. Not like she met Joseph at the gym, a bar or a workplace. Her parents likely arranged for her religious marriage to Joseph.
