1. Every blatantly and intentionally untrue statement that could be proven to be untrue about an opponent or issue would have a serious fine -- like $500 for an individual and $10,000 for a major newspaper. (Although, granted, this would be difficult to prove unless, for example, Candidate A said that Candidate B has a tattoo of Hitler on his or her hip -- or that Candidate B was convicted of animal cruelty for having sex with a koala)
2. In televised debates, if someone interrupts while an opponent is speaking, that person would be fined at least a thousand dollars, which would be taken out of his or her personal banking account.

With the second point, that could bankrupt a politician quite quickly!
the hysterical mainstream media, who are really tabloid journalists, pushing conspiracy theories, trump is literally hitler, and the country is full of the Klan are making some people have severe political anxiety.
If journalism returns to journalism things would change. unfortunately, the media has no incentive to change their strategy. 24/7 trump-bad-orange-man-hitler is making them lots and lots of money.
A profound waste of time. Divert the discussion to sports, the weather or gardening. I don't care if people believe in unicorns or sky saviors, just leave me alone. It is easier to change someone's eye color than their political beliefs.
If you were ask to somehow civilize politics, what would your help tips be????
