OP, I hope for the safety of your neighbors and community, that you do not own a gun. Hopefully, Biden doesn't own any guns either. His mind is too far gone to be playing with guns, let alone advising others on firearm safety.

And then there are the police who will absolutely charge you for discharging a firearm into the air.

I have to wonder if Biden had something else in mind. It's hard to believe that someone of his stature would give blatantly incorrect advice. I see that we are all on the same page when it comes to shooting a shotgun through the door. That is in fact questionable advice.
Please tell us how you got that idea.

Serious request.

I can't say for sure. I suppose it comes from seeing so many movies where people fire shotguns into the air as a warning, and no one ever gets hurt. We know that asteroids and such usually disintegrate before hitting the earth, so it makes sense that a shotgun bullet would do the same.

I do not personally own guns, so most of my knowledge comes from watching movies and reading posts on city data. Someone should have posted that the bullets do not disintegrate if that is the case.

Sigh. Why do you start threads on topics that you know so little about?

Biden's advice was shockingly bad on many fronts.
As a lawyer he should know the law in regard to carelessly discharging a firearm within city limits.
Safety. You should never fire a gun into the air. Physics, what goes up must come down and no bullet travels high enough to disintegrate on the way down.

A man of his means has a staff to research for him. He is an idiot for not using them.

A shot gun is an excellent home defense weapon, but only if used correctly.

Biden knows nothing about firearms. His knowledge wouldn’t fill a thimble. Stop embarrassing yourself. PM me before you go off on a subject you know nothing about. I know guns, airplanes and trains and the US Navy.

It makes no sense, because the asteroid is coming through the upper reaches of the atmosphere, and it develops heat from atmospheric friction as it falls. Buckshot is fired from the ground and will travel a maximum of about 200 yards before gravity overtakes it and it falls to the ground - gaining velocity as it falls. Buckshot reaches nowhere near the altitude in the atmosphere that an incoming asteroid does.

OK, thanks for the info--I stand corrected. Someone needs to get Joe Biden the website number for City Data
