He was the only candidate and, as one board member noted, he was proficient at using email.
Sounds like good government in action.

I wonder what his party's platform and agenda are.

The NYT didn't really elaborate on it, and it's not really of enough interest to me to Google it.

Classic case of "the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

Does it really matter if one Nazi is office in a country with thousands of offices?

Besides, their laws won't allow him to cause any harm to anyone.

Or of former W. Bush speechwriter David Frum: "if liberals don't enforce borders, fascists will."

He is right, except that instead of “fascists”, “someone else will” would be more appropriate. He is also not wrong in your article where he says:

“It is precisely because we are not honoring our commitments and our promises and our obligations to our fellow Americans that I'm urging people to have a stronger sense of social solidarity. And the way you get that stronger sense of social solidarity is by making the meaning of Americanism stronger, and that means making it more of a national community. And communities have boundaries between themselves and the rest of the world.”

As he also pointed out in your article, the left has gone completely off track on immigration. Their immigration stance is unpalatable to most Americans. Even the liberals on this board have repeatedly said “We are not for open borders.” And I believe them. And in believing them, I have to assume that their party loyalty is blinding them to the fact that their candidates ARE for open borders. Some have said so openly, and even the ones who haven’t, have said they support things like tax-payer subsidized health care for people here illegally.

Yes indeed--two of the three D front-runners advocate de-criminalization of illegal border crossing. For the first time in a long time, I will probably not be voting for the D nominee in 2020.

Not really. The good people of Germany know what they are doing and have done something. Their constitutional court have adjudicated on this party and recognise there is no threat.
