Whenever I see one of those lame arguments about "Why don't you take them into your own home ?", it is nothing more than a way to get out of answering the question sensibly. Of course we are not set up to take people into our individual homes, that is outrageous. But, there are agencies and groups that will take these folks in and find them shelter and food.

The Bahamas have 30 inhabited islands. The Hurricane hit only a few of them.
Those not hit are still open for business. There is no need to evacuate people to the US.

Meanwhile, in reality, what actually happened was that a boat which wasn’t cleared by immigration authorities to make the journey was stopped from crossing until the passengers were vetted - which is exactly what should have happened.
Another boat carrying 800+ Bahamians made the crossing with no issues because the owners did what they were supposed to do.
Trump had nothing to do with either. Baleria Caribbean, the owner of the ship which Bahamians were told to disembark from, had been informed that they needed to coordinate with US and Bahamian government officials prior to making the journey. They didn’t do so. The fault lies squarely upon the shoulders of the operators of the vessel.
