And they are paying the patient $5000 to boot. The fact that they are doing this just shows out of whack things are in the US.

The medical industry is worse than the proverbial military industrial complex. They have built up a system that is so convoluted and without transparency it is nearly impossible to have it be a truly open and competitive market. It really needs to be over-hauled top to bottom.
As a patient you would not only have to be medically stable, but low risk for complications and robust enough to travel for surgery. Along with recovery far from home. Not so easy a task when you can't walk.

A consulted once on a patient where the insurance company was paying for monthly chelation in Mexico City including travel. The patient had a vague history of trichinosis. It was all bogus!

So Republicans are trying to fool everybody and themselves, that its the governments fault that Insurance, Pharma and others are raking in $BILLIONS in profits each year.

And these companies that are raking in tens of $Billions each year would of course love to work at cost for the American tax payer.. but the government is so inefficient, that Insurance and Pharma and others they just have to rake in $Billions each year.. they can't help themselves, they can't help themselves.

When in 30+ other 1st world countries with 600 million people living in, costs have been kept under control, doctors are mostly paid 2-3x the average worker salaries and most doctors have little to no student loans because they have tax paid Universities to keep costs under control.

But, in America its the Governments fault everything is sooooo topsy turvy, that they are just forcing Big Insurance, Big Pharma, Wall Street and others to make tens of $Billions in profits each year. While beeing the most expensive healthcare system in the world, with 30-45.000 premature deaths and 500.000 family bankruptcies each year.

It could be in no way in the best interests of Big Insurance, Big Pharma, Wall Street and others to create this mess with buying of politicians, so they can rake in tens of $Billions in profits.. and let Regular Americans suffer compared to other 1st world nations.

If you wanted to fix this, you would let the Government run the Healthcare sector, like 30+ other 1st world Nations.. but you want and need those Insurance, Pharma and Wall Street to keep raking in $Billions in profits.. even though it hurts regular Americans.

Profits, Profits, Profits...

I travel quite a bit, so I've been able to buy meds/devices OTC in other countries a lot, though I cannot do so in the US. The US Fed Gov has such a tight stranglehold on the health care industry that a doctor's office visit, prescription, pharmacist's service, and the resultant lack of price competition significantly increases the cost of health care in the US. I don't see where Bernie plans on eliminating the stranglehold regulations/controls factor which causes such an increase in US health care spending over that of any other country.

However much it devalues the US$ compared to foreign currencies. Infinite money creation, such as you suggest to fund universal health care, would only lack consequences if the US were a closed market system, with US buyers/vendors neither buying nor selling goods/services from/to others in foreign countries. As soon as imports/exports are involved, any additional money creation devalues the currency of the country creating additional money to pay its bills.

So.. Bernie Sanders who has advocated for cheaper and better healthcare for all Americans, by going for a Medicare for all system.. did not think about doing anything about reducing costs??

Not buying it..
