I applaud Ivanka Trump for these efforts in initiating a program that aims to give women more financial power around the developing world. The initiative is giving $27 million to projects in 22 countries.

You do know that global campaigns to empower women have been a key agenda item for most of the G7 countries for years now.' It's good that the Trump continues the initiative

For perspective....Canada has committed 300 million.....but 27 million is nothing to sneeze at.

Apparently we've been involved in this initiative for years as well.

Ivanka's efforts to try and keep in in the spotlight are not going unnoticed.

UN Sustainable Development Goals
Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
"Providing women and girls with equal access to education, health care, decent work, and representation in political and economic decision-making processes will fuel sustainable economies and benefit societies and humanity at large. Implementing new legal frameworks regarding female equality in the workplace and the eradication of harmful practices targeted at women is crucial to ending the gender-based discrimination prevalent in many countries around the world."

Her company employed 18 people. She had a licensing deal with a manufacturer to put her label on clothes.

But yeah -- it would have been something if she had actually created a clothing line that empowered women.
