Probably an election year. It's not a very good way to get re elected. As I've said, if they were honest about what they want and never had to face their voters, they'd do it.

I agree, people are fed up with these shootings, and violence in general. Explain to me how banning a firearm by it's name , one that has been around for 50 years is going to help ? Up until last year, more people died from fists then rifles. 3 times more people died from knives than rifles. Why not focus on handguns, you know , the ones that are used much more ? I'm guessing you don't because the media and politicians haven't told you too.

What's really not impressive is the constant denial that it means what she said. You can deny that she really meant it but it still was said.
And, as I mentioned earlier, living in Maryland has taught me to pay attention when a legislator says they're going to ban a certain type or style of firearm because it then happens.

A standard hunting shotgun loaded with buckshot fired into a crowd would be far deadlier than any rifle. Multiple projectiles and a spread compared to a single projectile.
