This assumes that we do not have some sort of secret under the table treaty with the Sauds from decades ago. One that would be problematic for them if it were announced to the Arab world but is quite likely to exist if you look around at their relationship with the US.
I'm not saying I like our foreign entanglements, but that reality and my personal desires are often at odds.
There is an alleged agreement that US would defend SA as long as they guarantee OPEC sells their oil in US dollars. It is called the petro-dollar warfare. However, many OPEC countries sell oil in other currencies, so there is no reason why we should honor Nixon era promises.
Besides, Saudis pretty much asked for this with their open ended war against the Yemenis. They are at war by their own choice, so they should have expected some kind of push back at some point. Not our problem.
If Iran actually over-ran Saudi Arabia, they would probably take Kuwait and other oil producing Arab nations too (Iraq would probably help Iran), and it would have a global effect, including US.
We were on the right track making a deal with Iran, but since US dishonored the deal, all bets are off.
They spend $400 billion in our country over the last number of years. Four hundred billion dollars. That’s a million and a half jobs. And they’re not ones that, unlike some countries, where they want terms; they want terms and conditions. They want to say, “Can we borrow the money at zero percent for the next 400 years?” No. No. Saudi Arabia pays cash.
LOL. Is there a single issue where Trump did not have a different stance 2, 5, 10, 20 years ago? No wonder he is all over the map with his policies and his reaction to the Saudi attack. He is struggling in playing a role that is not in agreement with his core beliefs.
It is obvious at this point that the oil attacks in Saudi Arabia were coordinated by Iran. This has caused a spike in oil prices all over the world. The only thing Trump has done is order more sanctions on Iran.
But isn't this an act or war which calls for military action on Iran? It looks to me like Iran has crossed a red line here.
How much military hardware have they bought from us? Why do WE have to go to war? Do WE need to defend a country against a Iran, the same country responsible for 9/11?
But isn't this an act or war which calls for military action on Iran?
What are you thinking?
Of course it's an act of war, just like Saudi Arabia bombing Yemen is an act of war. That kind of violence is war.
If Iran had done that to our country, we would be justified in responding. If they do it to Turkmenistan, Turkmenistan is justified in responding. If they do it to China, China is justified in responding. If they do it to Saudi Arabia, the Saudis can just put their big boy pants on and handle it.
This has nothing to do with us.
