Much in the way its easy to gain wright but hard to lose it.
Factories, cars, etc. we embedded them into iur aociet.
Not that they’re bad. We need power, cars are a good option for transportation. The problem is we didn’t have any foresight.
For example, Los angeles is one of the biggest cities built around the car. We even dismantled our rail system for a long time. Add to the idea of a giant city made up of mostly suburban style homes or low rise apartments, you get sprawled out. People did it because of the idea that every man has his own acre of land and the car is a symbol of freedom.
Fast forward to 2019. Your stuck for an hr and 2mph traffic. You’d take the train but the rail doesn’t go your route, and they are gonna build it but it wont be completed for another 3 yrs.
Then in the 90s you had smog issues, and we still so now, but nowhere near as bad.
Then the sprawl for ing people to commute further.
So we see this issues today and the city is trying to change. Now imagine they saw that 40 yrs ago(they actually did and proposed many rail projects)? We’d be a different city.
But unfortunately all this is embedded into our society and its a huge task of getting people to change. The alternative is cleaner and more efficient tech. But the problem is that converting is a huge inconvenience.
So its the same everywhere else in the world. We’ve painted ourselves into a corner.
