Having kids is the biggest part of the entire problem. The more people, the more resources needed, the more pollution, the more CO2 and the more trees cut down.

IIRC this was coming out of Europe. Europe is already underreproducing, and they're native population is shrinking. They're no being replaced by Muslim immigrates. This kids, if they stick to their pledge, will only exacerbate the problem.

So by the time they get to middle age, they may find themselves living not in social democratic democracies, but muslim theocracies and being minorities in their own countries.

I think all teens should abstain from becoming pregnant. AGW is as good a reason as any. To be that afraid of something that isn't a reality is a good excuse not to have kids at all.

Stop the generational insanity and thin the herd. Leave the resources for people who will actually work to find solutions instead of being monkeys who pay lip service to the ruling class.

When did the left decide we should all listen to teenagers?
They use common sense far less than anyone. This country is becoming crazytown.

...any demonstrations in the developing countries that are causing it?

Did they let their schools sanction it too?

India is participating. China would not allow it. But people look to the US in particular to be a leader so it is important for us to make a strong showing.

That makes sense...China probably figured the irony would overwhelm it and draw attention to facts they don't like
....and explains why the focus on the US, even though the US is not doing it

Basically a good idea that politicians have to be afraid of as it can make entire societies implode in the long run.
And it is consistent and responsible. Why have kids as long as we do everything to destroy our one and only planet and thus mankind's future?

Yep. Humans are egoistic by nature, which is a terrible property to have when living in a society. Most people are not wise enough to downsize and lead humble lives. They think the world revolves around them and their petty goals in life.

The Paris agreement is a joke, even if the world observed it, it is way too little too late. The consequences of our actions tend to hit us years or decades later. So, even if we stopped our activities now, the worst is yet to come. We would have to aim for negative economic growth for many years to come. Slashing manufacturing, transport, consumption etc.

Well, the basic response is "So?".

It's hardly a useful threat to hold against someone. Further, in some feminist circles, it is being promoted the girls don't have to become mothers to be useful, they shouldn't be told that their purpose is to procreate.

Hence, as a new world order method of thinking, it is one theory being rather counteractive to another.
