Hm, I wonder what this "urgent" request could be given that the House is supposed to be on recess? Why couldn't it wait until after recess?

https://www.axios.com/state-departme...2f647481b.html

"State Department Inspector General Steve Linick has requested to meet Wednesday with a number of Senate and House committees "to discuss and provide staff with copies of documents related to the State Department and Ukraine," according to a letter first reported by the Washington Post.

Why it matters: The details of the "urgent" briefing are unknown, but the news follows an escalating war of words between Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and key House committees investigating President Trump's alleged efforts to pressure Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden."

Interesting, this was at his request and came out of no where, he wants to brief several of the committees in both the house and senate. Since they are on recess are they flying in tonight.

Another patriot stepping forward to overcome the stonewalling from Pompeo.

The IG has independent standing within the dept and doesn’t have to fall on his sword to defend the maniac.

This may well be the most important hearing in the Trump impeachment saga.

Remember that Grassley who defended the current Whistleblower and who was the main author of the Whistleblower Act is the person who stepped forward when Trump intended to throw out all the IGs in various government departments after taking office
Trump was told that was not going to happen and he didn’t go forward with that assault on government protections for calling out wrongdoing...

Grassley is old and has some entrenched ideas about the roles of men and women that haven’t upgraded as society has progressed—
But he is very proud of his Whistleblower statute
It will be interesting to see how the State Dept IG puts his oar into this new flood of insight into how the Trump WH operates its foreign policy

The IG Report about the corruption within the IC is going to hit the waves and they need talking points to get out ahead of it.

And this IG has been around since before Trump took office—
Maybe even when HRC was SoS and he wasn’t called on for Benghazi panels that I recall
So speaking out now is pretty unprecedented and could be very damaging if he will expose Pompeo’s using the State Dept as Trump’s Western Union runners...
But if he tries to close the door on finding out about the secret server lock-down, then will obviously be wet blanket trying to smother the fire of investigation...

This won’t be televised though—will it?

But it was not Grassley that changed the Whistle Blower Act and the punishment for leaking in the last month.
Who did?

This is not a legal process. It is purely a political process.

No one changed the act, that was fake news.

I am really interested to see what the IG says. I suspect that it is going to be some pretty damning complaint against Pompeo (or maybe Giuliani) lodged by apolitical career rank-and-file emboldened after seeing the honorable way Michael Atkinson handled the intelligence community whistleblower. I wonder if, when the chips are down, Pompeo will fall on his sword for Trump.
