Secretary Powell sold the Iraq war to us, they had weapons of mass destruction he said, and used that as a basis to invade and topple the evil regime. Now he admitted in 2015 the invasion was badly flawed. But, he pops up again today to give his advice, as if anyone asked for it. Powell, join the long list of fools who we should never take advice from again concerning that area of the world. We are still paying a price for his mistakes.

On Nikki Haley, I thought she would be a good choice for republicans in 2024, boy was I wrong. I don’t want that warmonger anywhere near the White House.
President Trump is throwing the Kurds, who have fought alongside us against ISIS for years, to the wolves. He's demonstrating that an alliance with the United States means nothing. And the thousands of ISIS prisoners that the Kurds have been holding will be escaping.

And you think this is a good thing.

Trump's defense is that the Kurds didn't fight alongside us at Normandy. What a brilliant defense!

Yes, there was great agony when Bush released several hundred from Gitmo, and Obama released 5 in exchange for US POW.
We are handing our Kurdish allies over to be massacred.

We are handing ISIS 12,000 fighters.

We are handing Putin Syria's warm water ports.

And fussing over whether Trump's phone calls are "wrong" enough to warrant impeachment.

We are cowards.

Words fail me.
The Kurds are not allies, they are not even a country. Turkey however, is an ally, A NATO member, and a military and trade partner.

The US has zero obligation to the Kurds. Please show me this agreement we signed with them that says we are to support them in every cause.

The Kurds provide support for terror activities in Turkey. So you are now all for the US to support such terror organizations? Turkey has branded them a terror group. You do not think the US should support its long time allies?

Pathetic.
Most informed people have known about the Kurds since the days of the Iraq war.

As far as being in an endless war - the fact is that the world and especially the Middle East IS the continuing source of endless war and conflict in our world. The reality is as it always has been - one day, those conflicts will come to our shores, just as they did on 9/11.

This is why whether we like it or not, the USA needs to maintain a military presence in the Middle East. This is why we have to continue to support our allies, and make our military ready if and when they are needed. To isolate in North America and pretend that war will always happen somewhere else is foolishness. We learned that lesson the hard way in the 20th century - nothing has changed.

Same for the US, would be well advised to stay in our own country.
They are our allies, who have fought alongside us against ISIS for years. Of course we have an obligation. But the Kurds are used to us betraying them. It's all we've ever done.

So, radical Islamic Saudi Arabians commit a terror attack against the US, but our policy is to invade and engage in combat non radical regimes there who committed no such attack, and sell the Saudis billions of dollars in weapons?

Yes, sounds logical.

And disagree, the place will always have conflict, no reason for us to be there.

They werw fighting ISIS for themselves, not for us. The Soviets fought the Axis powers also, that did not mean we all of a sudden were obligated to support the Soviets in all matters.

Turkey has been an ally for decades, and has assisted the US for decades. Now all of a sudden, you all want to toss all that away, yet prior to this, we're crying about how Trump was not supporting our allies.

The Kurds provide support for terror activities in Turkey, and have done so for decades. You are saying you want the US to support such activities. Got it.

Also, you are under the presumption that Turkey would have not launched operations anyway. So if they were going to anyway, you are supporting our troops being at risk. How kind of you.

Please, they lost 11,000 lives in Iraq and Syria how many lives did our other allies lose.

Because those countries are not Trump's lovers and financial interest. Everything Trump does is for himself or to pay off a debt owed to certain dictators with whom he has made a deal .... a deal with the devil. It's really in plain sight now - as easy to spot as the nose on one's face.
