A few suggestions that I think would make for a better, fairer forum.
Less 'merging of threads' unless the subject matter is identical.
Often new news stories get merged into existing threads of an old version of a story with a completely different angle and the new news just gets lost within it. It can be infuriating and often feels like the new news story is being deliberately buried. It has the affect of feeling partisan.

Appreciated, thank you. It would be great if this could be looked at.
Perhaps having separate forums would invite other mindsets?
First what you proclaim what someone might be is sidely partisan. However if that was true what? , you want a separate section for communists, SJW, leftists, anarchists, that will censor other viewpoints?
There is already a place for you like that, the democratic underground, a love fest for like minded leftists who don't want to examine a opposing view, which in the end isn't very conducive to being truly educated when you surround yourself with yourself.
Go look at any thread that even peripherally can be imagined by left leaning posters as somehow being about Donald Trump.
The hostility towards conservatives and Republicans here on this board and across our society, not least of all by the Democrat left mass media, has been nothing short of incendiary.
If you guys don't want to be treated in a hostile manner, stop treating President Trump and everyone who dares not to conform to your world view in such a nasty and relentlessly hostile manner. Just an idea.
My vote is no because people live in echo chambers enough as it is, why make it worse???
+1 for me.
Why have something that reasonable people can't try to contribute to, just because some unreasonable people do? So one group has to sit silently while outrageous lies are posted? I think that's a really bad idea. If the rhetoric is bad now, how much worse is it going to be if there's no challenge, no factual information presented, no way to counter actual fake news. If I post something egregiously wrong, I should expect to be corrected.
I vote yes. It seems most of the politics threads are extremely one sided. More balance would be nice.

This. I'm surprised how dominant this forum is with extreme conservatives. Much of the country still supports Trump but I don't believe the readers/posters here are representative of the voting population in general. They are probably more centrist.
Administrator, you can see there is frustration here with regard to moderation, and many are probably sitting on their hands not wanting to say anything about that.
Back on topic - try it out on a trial basis as another poster suggested and then we'll all see if it's working well.
It's a political forum that allows arguments. Political arguments are the hardest thing to moderate and you won't find any place where you will have no issues with some mod decisions because everyone is biased towards opinions they agree with. Many places simply don't want any political discussion because they know how hard it is to moderate and what abuse moderators have to put up with without any appreciation for what they do. 90% of newspapers appear to have closed their comment sections completely.
I think it would be a negative, especially if nobody was allowed to cross post to the other forum. It would greatly reduce debate. Is that they intent?
I support the idea of subforums on this. There are nuanced intra-party issues among both Democrats and Republicans that merit discussion, but often are drowned out by the heavily partisan debates and arguments between supporters of the two parties.
I don’t think it should be moderated based on the political leanings of the poster (which can be fluid, and many self-identify as independent anyway), but rather the content of each post.
Primaries are now for the cable news networks. The intra-party disagreements are immaterial this election cycle. It's Trump, or not to Trump. Dislike for him supersedes any policy considerations for many.
Yeah, it's a really poor situation this election cycle when it comes to having a civil discussion about issues.
