Yer damn right California has the No. 1 economy in the USA. LIBERALISM plus CAPITALISM works, and it works very well, like yin and yang. The government-private sector partnership in this state has built this economy over the years, with big investments in world class universities, a diversified economy, a good but aging transportation network, the push for green energy. All of these government investments and active policies laid a foundation for business to take root and grow.

Now look at the low tax, low wage red states. All utter failures, except Texas, but that's a one trick pony built on gas and oil. If conservative economics worked, states like Mississippi, Alabama, Kansas, and South Carolina would be economic powerhouses. They are anything but, precisely because they don't have a government that believes in being an active partner in investing in and growing the economy!

Sounds like Oklahoma City has been doing something kinda similar to California. As a result, Oklahoma City is the only area in Oklahoma that has been having significant growth.

LOL, then you would have to hopefully avoid 3rd world conditions in Oklahoma. One Republican County Commissioner, who likes Trump, complained he has to deal with old bridges in his district built back in the days of horse drawn wagons and tin lizzies, because the Republican run state won't provide adequate road funds.

Good to hear. Some blue cities in red states try to do good things but in many cases the conservative state house pass laws to preempt them.

We lost power twice a month in rural Texas, but it dang sure wasn’t a politics thing. Not everything comes down to politics, unfortunately for you junkies, and while this doesn’t look good for California, you go run for governor there or apply to be the PG+E CEO and kindly inform me what other strategies you might employ. Electrical sparks may have started some fires, but fires are now pretty much 'volcanic' because environmentalists sued away logging.... no matter how the fire started. The forest is pretty full of dead trees, pitch, awaiting a spark or lightening, etc.

Fire fuels leave the forest in ONLY one of two ways -- carried out (logging) or burned out.

There are record fire fuels (dead and dying trees) and record tree density in the forests now (you can hug 3 trees at once!) - since logging basically stopped in the 90's. Today's volcanically intense fires throw fist-size embers a mile or more - starting new fires in several places at once. (Fire reach) No fire line stops that.

The fire-fight has moved from a ground game to the air.

Massive fires and historic structure loss is because of (un-managed) forest overgrowth, thanks to environmentalists (Sierra Club). Period.
