So principles dont matter. Its all about what you identify with. Sounds similar to people who whine about white privilege yet dont check their heterosexual privilege and deny their cis-gender privilege. Why take these people seriously?
I never said principles don't matter. I said that I laugh at people who are whining right now. I don't take people who complain about MLK seriously because they aren't really concerned about his principles. I look at them as the same persons who referred to the civil rights movement as a "communist plot".

So you admit that it has nothing to do with principles. You whine about people who bring up the unsavory aspects of MLK and think it should be brushed under the carpet and laugh at people who you claim are whining now.
You've hitched your wagon to the SJW movement but fail to see the hypocrisy you're pushing. Do you check your cis-gender privilege regularly?

Actually, I look out for what's in my best interests. I'm not with the "SJW" crowd. I just don't care about Christopher Columbus at all. I go for what means something to ME!!

It's cool what Columbus did, but he's not worth celebrating.
It's like celebrating Jeff Bezos' birthday.... yeah he founded Amazon, made it into an empire. The man deserves a lot of respect. But he's not some altruistic figure who deserves to be revered. He's just a capitalist.

So starting the European migration to the Americas is not worth celebrating. Bezos runs a freaking company.
If we're going to celebrate anyone, it should be Leif Ericsson. Ericsson was the first European on the North American continent and the first to establish a settlement, Vinland. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinland

In Minnesota, Leif Ericson Day is a thing.
He did nothing about it, and the world DID NOT CHANGE AT ALL. More than meaningless.
Agreed. Columbus and mlk day are just another day off. Hardly anyone celebrate those holidays. And I agree that their are more important people to celebrate than Columbus.
Are you kidding? Saint MLK now practically gets an entire month.
