No.

That's because no man has a moral or logical claim of authority over another man. That would put human existence at a default setting of slavery.

In a free society the closest thing one could come to that resembled what we know as authority would be a voluntary private resolution council or a voluntary private insurance company but that would be agreed upon "authority" and it still couldn't initiate force on you.

Democracy is the best way to do this. It is not perfect, but there is nothing better.

No, which is why political power needs to be reduced, or ideally eliminated.

I get that people want to believe they’re in control because they can vote, or that they just need the right people in power, but it’s naive to give any group of humans the right to boss everyone around and take their money, and then not expect them to take advantage of that arrangement...especially as time goes on.

Do you think it's even possible to have a world where these people actually have to face consequences for their actions?

The more accountable you can be held.....the less power you truly have.

Yes.

In fact, the very definition of “power” is the ability to hurt others without consequences.

No! Those with all the real power (the Elite 1 percenters who own everything) stay hidden behind the curtain on purpose. Way too many layers of the pyramid protect them. Case in point, Jeff Epstein would have been a huge smoking gun every ever questioned and investigated. The owners make sure that never happens.

No.

even in the most (supposedly) benevolent communities, like the catholic church, power always corrupts. we learned a few years ago that catholic priests were raping children all over the world and these atrocities were well known in the church power hierarchy for decades, yet this horror perpetuated by the pedophile priests was allowed by the leaders of the church to continue.
