So you are not actually from the region, you just visit. That's a big difference.

C'est correct, but I was raised by parents from the region, listening to music from the region, visiting the region, and plan on permanantely moving to the region.

That's what happens when you hire terrorist as leaders.
No one likes innocent deaths but if you hire someone to kill your spouse your still guilty. Even if you cry wolf really loud.

Egypt once controlled Gaza, prior to the 1967 war. The border is closed to immigrants but it is regularly used to transport medicine, supplies, weapons, etc. The border that Israel controls with Gaza is the one that has a habit of being closed very frequently.

But can you say you ever visit that region? If not I'd say the previous poster has a leg up on the eyewitness end of this conversation. Anyone who can lend an actual eyewitness account of what's going on over there is OK with me, as long as they are being impartial and truthful. Also, in a region as unstable as the Middle East you probably wouldn't have to be there long to see some pretty awful stuff. Know what I mean.

Godawful analogy. Hiring someone to kill your wife, you'd do so only for the stated goal of having her killed. Believe it or not, Hamas was elected in Gaza for practical reasons that had nothing to do with fighting Israel. Those reasons being that Israel and the international community were foolish enough to allow Hamas to sell itself as the only group providing aid to Gazans. It's kind of hard for a population to want to get rid of the only representation they have and by extent, the only help they have for people who they've never known outside of war. It's made exponentially harder when Israel cuts off supplies and aid to Gaza. This situation allowed Hamas to expel all political enemies from Gaza without repercussions and is why the Gaza situation has reached a whole new level of difficulty for Israel.
Ideologically, you and I and Israel can object until we're blue in the face but practically, Hamas is the only order Gazans know. And the only alternative to that order is to be ruled by Israel. And Israel has been having a bit of a PR problem with Gaza lately. Contrary to popular belief, most people don't do things for ideological reasons. They do things for pragmatic reasons.

No doubt, but why say you are from some place if you aren't? If you are less than truthful about something like that how honest can you be about the important things?
