Heck we even have Dutch gay Muslim politicians.
May I add that the Dutch Muslim politicians truly have it hard, because the Dutch 'brand' them as Muslim, while the (orthodox) Muslims brand them as Muslim traitors because they often favour democracy over religion.

Not long ago an orthodox imam has called 'successful' Muslim politician Ahmed Marcouch a hypocrite on national TV because Marcouch refuses to be a Muslim hard-liner.
Luckily most Muslims themselves disagreed with this imam.
So not long after this TV debate did the Dutch Muslim organisations publicly criticize an imam by demanding that he would apologize to Marcouch.
Which he did in a letter.

I'm not. I have to hear the very same people who call gay males "f*gs" saying how hot it would be to see two female co-workers or customers going at it in a pornographic film.

F;;gs.dumb rednecks they are all just words. But they are now common words just as shooting people the finger . I would bet that as shooting the finger thathas been made a common language of the people and is not against the law ;saying those words will be the same.It is just a sign of the times as is the language used on TV. I personally don't approve of any of these but i realise that there are alot more things to deal with and hate political correctness as it has bben come to be know. People are free to disassociated themselves and call people that do scum as they always have also.

How is that the answer? A person should just abandon his or her home for a lack of social/political equality? How would that help progress for anyone?

In response to the OP--I'm on pretty much the same page and have thought about this (and looked at those depressing maps) many times. At the same time, I've talked to many people from countries all over the globe in the past few years, and noticed a range of reactions to and opinions about orientations other than heterosexuality. Most of them have told me how it is for a gay person trying to live openly in their countries, and I've gained some perspective after hearing their stories. Scary as it might be, we're doing fairly well here, I would say. Could be better, but not that bad. I guess I'm not telling you anything you haven't already considered, though.

Take note of this:

Fascists=want control Communists=want freedom
When did I say Bush was a conservative?

Communism is freedom? Have you ever studied life under Soviet Russia?

To some Americans, anything that isn't extreme right-wing fundamentalism is "communist." It's probably a consequence of the terrible education system here in the US.

I agree. And if you know how to dress, how to use a handkerchief, and how to choose a wine, you must be gay. EVERY group has telltale signs which 'give it away". Can't fool ALL of us !!.....

Oh you don't need to be anti-American.

All you need to do is propose some rational changes to American policy and BAM you're a socialist or communist.
