This is the ridiculous country we have become. The snowflakes are now criticizing Gladys Knight for choosing to sing the National Anthem because it's 'racist.' And not in line with the likes of Krapernick.

Good for you Gladys, a true American.

Quote:
“I understand that Mr. Kaepernick is protesting two things, and they are police violence and injustice,” Knight, a seven-time Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, told Variety. “It is unfortunate that our national anthem has been dragged into this debate when the distinctive senses of the national anthem and fighting for justice should each stand alone.”

She continued, “I am here today and on Sunday, Feb. 3 to give the anthem back its voice, to stand for that historic choice of words, the way it unites us when we hear it and to free it from the same prejudices and struggles I have fought long and hard for all my life, from walking back hallways, from marching with our social leaders, from using my voice for good — I have been in the forefront of this battle longer than most of those voicing their opinions to win the right to sing our country’s anthem on a stage as large as the Super Bowl LIII.”

Democrats don't care if its a woman or an AA.
If people don't march lockstep or sing what they approve of they will savage them.
Skin color only matters when they are talking trash for votes.

Omg, this is crazy stuff. Love Gladys Knight and so glad she stood up to this baloney. I respect her even more, now. She is so eloquent.

Interesting story. There are those who are quoting the third stanza of the National Anthem as pro-slave, or pro-slave rights.

Honestly, I don't get this stanza at all. What the heck? It's like they put words in a hat and drew them out randomly. "No refuge could save the hireling and slave from the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave"? WHAT???

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a Country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash’d out their foul footstep’s pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

The third stanza is, above all else, anti-British. The British forces at the Battle of Baltimore included the second Corps of Colonial Marines, who were drawn from refugees who had escaped slavery in the US during the Royal Navy's blockade and raiding of the Atlantic Coast and Chesapeake Bay. Francis Scott Key would, of course, take a dim view towards these men.

Odd, all I've heard is people who are excited to hear her sing it. It's sad that so many want to demonize millions over the words of a small handful. It must be an awful existence for people like that.
