No, not necessarily. I'm sure a lot of Covid-19 "deaths" would have died anyways within a narrow window of time due to how generously we classify covid-19 deaths.

The two leaders are chronic conditions, heart disease and cancer. Number 3 is Covid-19. I wouldn't classify any of that stuff as "everyday life". You certainly don't come home at night and think I'm glad I didn't die of a heart attack or cancer today. Covid-19 deaths will probably be more than 10 percent of total deaths this year.

I would be worried about hospitalization more than death. I just talked to a neighbor whose sister-in-law was in the hospital for two months with the disease. The husband was unaffected. Fighting for air is not a pleasant experience, even for a mild case that lands you in the hospital for two weeks.

where covid is concerned people who get hyperbolic about it make me nuts. i want to slap the people over blowing it.

That being said, this thread is a neat example of lying with facts.

Yes, and while the COVID deaths are additive (which makes the op’s assertion mute) I am sure fewer people will die from the flu this coming winter due to precautions taken to prevent COVID. As you have stated, traffic deaths are down because of it. Silver lining if there is one?
