What is the word for people who think "socialist" and "communist" mean the same thing, and that "liberals" support both of them? Oh, wait...never mind. I just thought of it...

Another thread where the "conservatives" come to demonize and bash liberals.

Quite true, but to be fair the opposite occurs frequently too.

I would love to see folks take an issue or two from the list and analytically address why they agree or disagree with the sentiment, but again to be fair this posting board ain't the Brookings Institute.

I think this thread also shows that it's hard to define fully either a liberal or a conservative.

A liberal in Europe is not against a responsible government.
They acknowledge that a society needs rules, therefore being against rules means being against the government.
It seems to me that American liberals are more like anarchists than European liberals since both American Liberals and anarchists don't want any rules and / or government interference?

I'll state unequivocally that I am liberal.
I am not, however, the breeder of Satan.
I have been sterilized so that would be an impossibility.

Honestly. For those who donate to Hospitals, Museums - Are they really donating because they like the case? Or, Are they donating because they want their name on it?
The dirty little secret, well documented, is that liberals dontate much less than conservatives. They do not like, for example, donating time and money to a church food pantry. That is a more direct way of helping people. They prefer the big government method.

Liberals do not give as much to charities because they feel that big brother government should be parceling out goodies based on their image and likeness of what they want the world to look like, not what the real needs are.

And while we are on the subject, liberalism is a two tiered system. At the top are the folks in the faculty lounge, the "Do you or anyone you know have had the remotest possibility of ever coming in contact with mesoplanorapido? Then call the law offices of .....", the political machine, the entertainment industry, etc.

In other words, they have the money in the liberal community and want it to stay that way. They do not want their lifestyle altered. But they want to feel good about themselves.

The second tier is the group that the first tier tells them that they are oppressed, there is no hope, and that the tier ones are going to help them through "programs".

When liberals talk about stimulating the economy, they think in terms of paying people to prevent foreclosures, giving money for increased benefit programs, etc. and not about things that will actually cause economic growth.

A socialist and communist comes from two different schools of thought...so certainly a liberal can not equal both, or either, if you truly knew what they meant.

Please educate yourselves before posting...at least look up in the dictionary!

Liberalism came from a theories and ideas of government believing that individual liberty was the most important fundamental of government.

Wasn't that once what our country was built on?
