You will see that with the street walkers and the ones on drugs, but many are not like that. I'd suggest you watch the episode of Penn and Teller's Bull@#$% that talks about prostitution.

What kind of society would encourage people to have no self esteem, and no worth or value except to sell their body?

The same kind that allows a 18 yr old with double DDs to marry a rich 80 yr old for "love??"

The same kind that cannot inspect every shipping container coming into it and thus inadvertantly allows the smuggling in of thousands of sex slaves who will be whisked into sex slavery in underground brothels because there is a need/want that is not being filled legally. Not to mention that kidnapping of American girls to fulfill the same purposes.

So, should we also outlaw the making of pornography? How about topless clubs?

actually there are plenty of areas in America where clubs or making porn is illegal. Most often its in the bible belt where a prosecutor can make a name for himself with locals by going after and cleaning up their hood.Yes the local cops will pose as a customer in a club to make sure the girl is a certain amount of distance away or doesn't touch you.,wonderful use of public resources....sheesh

Grrrrreat point!

It's like shooting fish in a barrel. I guess it's easier than going after child molesters.

I am sure we can all agree that the abuse or attempted abuse of children is an epidemic that should be a top priority of law enforcement.

I mean, think about LionKing's post: Think of how much time and money is used to "bust" these girls!! Even if it isn't legalized, does any body actually think that handcuffing a girl and taking her in to jail and prosecuting her is REALLY using resources wisely??? How about a ticket? Maybe an on-site interview to make sure the girl is not being "forced" into it and it of legal age, and then a ticket, just like you get for a traffic violation. In same cases, when the police do a sting, the girl goes off to jail, and the "john" just gets a ticket. Is THAT fair!?!? Does an 18 yr old girl who temporarily fell into it really need a mark on her criminal record forever?

I remember about 10 yrs ago seeing a story about some cops who busted a girl in a hotel sting. Not all cops are "good guys" and I will not go into details of what they did to her, as I would hate to wreck your weekend. It was extremely sickening. There were three or four of them and one of them even videotaped it. That tape ended up being discovered by another party and that's how it made news. The story was hushed up pretty quick, but it did make the news at least once. Think of all the times this has happened that hasn't made the news.

I have great respect for most cops, and all the ones I have talked to will shrug off prostitution as NOT being a "real" crime. It is the things AROUND it (drugs, sex slavery...) that annoys them and they will admit that since you cannot get rid of prostitution, just legalize it and regulate it. Free them up for more important work. However if I ever met a cop who seemed really "geeked" about "catching hookers" I admit I would wonder about where his motivation was coming from.

If I can find a link to the story, I will add it later tonight/tomorrow.

The point is, if we are going to look at it from the perspective of the girls safety and keep it ILLEGAL, then I suggest we make it mandatory that any police sting involve at least one FEMALE police officer being present...for the protection of the girls.

What say you all??

It's just "business"...and both parties recognize it.

It isn't "I'll pretend to love you to see what I can get you to buy me."

No. Better would be to confiscate the vehicles the "Johns" are driving. In the old days newspapers used to publish photos of the "Johns" and it was extremely effective, but there are very few newspapers that do that and I have no explanation as to why the practice stopped.

Prostitution isn't "just business," it's a means of expanding and perpetuating the depravity of American society. Americans are extremely inept at discussing sex and communicating their needs and desires to their partners.

If a man would have the balls to tell his woman that he rather enjoys choking her nearly to the point of death to heighten his sexual pleasure before he marries her, not afterward, there wouldn't be a need for prostitution.

Default Move to Nevada

Yes, legalize prostitution and tax it only to pay for contraception, not parental subsidies like public schools.
We all need to move to Nevada (Mound House) so we can vote to defend and expand the only legal prostitution in the United States!!

Um, hmmm? Well then I suppose it would be fitting for a woman to tell her man before marrying him that she will only have sex until their first child is conceived and then lose all interest in him but expect him to support her and the child financially forever?

What about a man who just went through a bad divorce or the death of a wife and simply isn't emotionally ready to date again yet, and doesn't want to lead a woman on?

What about a rich old lady who wants the company of a pool boy? So, she buys him a new sports car. Isn't that really the same thing? It's money or something of monetary value in exchange for sex. You can wrap it up in a pretty ribbon if it makes you feel better, but it's still prostitution. Same for the old man who makes an arrangement with the young woman: he pays for her college education if she spends two nights every week in his bed. Not everybody can afford these high ticket items, so cash-for-play comes into play, but THEN it's ILLEGAL. If you think about it, the rich folks who are not in the public eye can pay for all the sex they want by simply having the arrangement packaged differently. That doesn't really seem fair to the average Joe...or Joann, does it?

Another thing...to address a previous reply, we are talking about legal prostitution, NOT sex slavery. No legal prostitute would ever be FORCED to do anything she didn't agree with.
