Chrysler announced today "Let's Refuel America," an "economic stimulus" program designed to protect consumers from rising gas prices for three years.

With the U.S. purchase of eligible Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles, customers can enroll in the "Let's Refuel America" program and receive a gas card that allows them to purchase gas at $2.99 for the next three years.

That is not a bargain. Only a couple years ago, consumers were freaking out when gas hit $2.50.

Hmm...so that rules out pretty much all of the luxury vehicles (87 octane) and leaves 2 cars that showed good performance in Consumer Reports fuel economy test - the Jeep Compass Sport and the Chrysler300C...oops, is that one premium fuel as well?

From my readings of many postings, it appears that some folks are concerned that we will soon be at $5.00, so for those with this perspective, this can be a bargain.

Considering some of their more efficient vehicles, such as the PT Cruiser, this could help provide "cost certain" operating costs.

The PT Cruiser (non turbo) appeared to have some issues; however, the turbo has a 20mpg rating and appears to perform fairly well. Overall road test score was a 61 of 100, but overall owner cost received better than average marks. Owner satisfaction and predicted reliability scored avg.

After three years, you will have a worthless turkey that nobody will want to buy. Yeah, this is a really good deal, for the stupid who don't have financial sense.

I'm not following the point you are trying to make.

I thnik you will find that the others are giving cash back instead of this incentive. Its like the guy spending 20,000 to get two extra miles per gallon and overall costing more in the end; factoring in loss on his present vehicle;cost and then the finance charges.
