Yes, but the ENTIRE highway system isn't toll roads. The day that drivers aren't subsidized one red cent is the day I'll gladly pay the actual costs of me getting on a train or bus.

No - I can't think of anything off hand

I know I'm not paying for fire protection either - I pay a seperate "subscription" fee for that -

I agree with you - not all highways have toll booths -

But I see more and more interest in them. Here in Arizona, there is quite a bit of discussion about going to toll roads. Don't know if it will happen but, at least it is being discussed

no but they should, that is the point, if people want mass transit let it pay for itself, if it does, then it is viable, if people want to drive by themselves on highways build 8 lane freeways and pay for them with tolls. around here you see all these buses running around with one or two people on them,not exactly the model of efficiency.
