I would think people who bitterly whine about the fedgov. spending money would be a little peeved....

It IS $5 billion dollars afterall...to some that is quite a bit of money.

It IS amusing that bio-fuels(you know, one of those GREAT alternative energy sources) are to blame for rising food costs....

Awww, and you want your $3 of that $5 billion back so it can go right back into the pockets of the rich. I'm sorry, but tax spending doesn't work that way.

I wish some would apply that same logic to corporate welfare.

Instead of showering rich companies with money and in the same breath complaining about having to "love thy neighbor".

Funny how in one breath some whine about gov. spending and in another demand more spending.

Of course those on the left are controlled by emotion not logic.

You mean like George W Bush vetoing legislation to provide health care for poor children cause he says its too expensive and then the next day without flinching demanding billions more for Iraq?

The first would be an example of wrongful spending by the fedgov.

The fedgov. supposedly has very limited powers and responsibilities, unfortunately we the people keep allowing its power to expand and grow all the while complaining bitterly about the cost(except when it is our pet project)

He was happy to provide healthcare to the poor children whose parents can't afford it. The problem was that Congress was trying to include children whose parents can and do afford it.

Makes sense to me - have the taxpayers pay more for a kids insurance than what his parents are paying. Sounds kinda like Obama's health insurance plan.

The money is being spent not for altruism but to pander to the farm lobby. It'll help drive up prices in the U.S. on something that is not considered by the Fed in determining the money supply. We need more inflation to bail the Fed from its past mistakes.
All this said, I'm glad it's food and not weapons for the governments to suppress their people.

Nobody in the US that is willing to ask for help is truly hungry. They may not live comfortably by our standard, but they aren't starving. This food aid goes to people that are truly starving to death.
