Finally - Common Sense prevails!

This is what true Leadership sounds like:

Quote:
effective tomorrow morning, I’m going to sign a reprieve under my constitutional authority. So that will delay the case for 60 days against both of them (Mike and Jillian Carnevale), and then when our Clemency Board meets in the coming weeks, we'll issue pardons not only for Mike and Jillian, but for any Floridian that may have outstanding infractions for things like masks and social distancing.
Besides, if Kamala Harris can bail out looters, arsonists and rioters, Gov DeSantis can certainly undo these stupid politically-motivated 'crimes' - makes no sense to wear a mask outdoors in Florida!

Is he going to get all the money from the $100 fines levied against folks in Miami back to the rightful owners or has that money already been spent?

As long as no assault type charges are dismissed.

No, and they should have never been levied in the first place, but take the win where you can. Or do you prefer the violations stay on record?

Yeah lots of municipalities are dismissing the charges -- even in liberal areas.

It was meant as a deterrent and they really shouldn't have pushed it.

But interesting there were even fines imposed in Florida -- aren't they the big defiant, rebelion state ---- seems DeSantis did not have full control...shame.

No one has "control" in Florida. Floridians wore masks at high rates even when local mandates were lifted. Floridians actually followed CDC guidelines pretty closely without mandates, anyone visiting Florida would have seen it for themselves. Folk wearing mask and distancing without being told to. Only now are people claiming Florida residents were some kind of rebels. Heck most of us are still remote working.

From outside Florida seems like a rebellious place but in Reality, Florida is pretty level-headed, our politicians are much more OUT THERE (Both Sides) than most of the citizens.

In fact, I would say our retirees from the North are much more RED/BLUE diehards and are the ones that drive the political talk in Florida. This is why retirement communities like the Villages are so politically crazy, they are not Floridians.

Floridians are actually REALLY laid back most of the time.

In Miami Beach, South Beach where I live, less than 25% of people wore masks outside. Indoors, it depended on the businesses and their policies.

I don't have a problem with this, if all he is doing is pardoning the fines for MASKS only. A lot of people got other charges when they refused to wear masks, like trespassing, assault, and murder in a few cases (not necessarily in FL). I would hope that he would leave those charges standing.
