Tying together some loose ends here, it appears that some scientists are blaming much of global warming and inflation on the obesity issue (really!):
In a letter published Friday in the medical journal Lancet, two scientists write that obese people are disproportionately responsible for high food prices and greenhouse gas emissions because they consume 18% more food energy due to their greater body mass -- and require increased quantities of fuel to transport themselves and the food they eat. "Promotion of a normal distribution of BMI would reduce the global demand for, and thus the price of, food,"
The world is a spread sheet. Next, people will be issued an "economic viability rating", which will determine your taxes, insurance rates, and employment eligibility.
Rather remarkable story, I suspect this will become part of the discussion about taxing foods that aren't nutritious. Also, I wouldn't be surprised to see proposals to weigh you when renewing your driver's license, and having a "fat" surcharge.

ROFL @newtoca --- no WAY! PR people won't let him.
(besides, al gore has a bit of a mid drift )
This whole thing is a bit of a reach. Frankly, if the idea of higher risk for heart disease, diabetes, stroke, cancer won't scare them, I don't think global warming will make a dent in the bulge. I'd attribute their problems more to psychological issues or generational nutrition problems. This might be more fuel for people to amp up the social stigma. I don't think it will help any of the issues, personal or global.
