Before taking things like this as widespread, it's probably best not to read sensationalist garbage like Fox News (and many other news sources, by the way)

Sex change should never be offered to kids... I was under the impression that for any doctor to do the surgery, the person had to live as the other gender for at least a year (i.e. the doctor had to be sure that the patient hadn't made the decision too lightly.) A minor would definitely not be mentally equipped enough to decide to change their physical equipment.

 I'm sorry but if any parent let their 7 year old child do this, that parent should go to jail, IMO. Dr. Spack should go to jail also if he does this to any child under the age of 18 IMO. I don't think even a 16 year old may have enough emotional stability to make such a decision. Don't we all know how mixed up about most everything teenagers are, having lived through them ourselves? Do we all feel the same now about everything we did when we were teens??  This is just plain wrong IMO. |
