Let's see, since I had a real good view of California and Ohio the past few years:
- Housing practically tripled in price in California between 1998 and 2006, while Ohio was up about a total of 15% - Investors in California buying homes for construction on the speculation that they would "flip" a substantial profit in under 6 months, and then using the gains to buy more homes for subsequent "flips", while Ohio had practically no investor bought single family homes - Property taxes in California capped by Prop 13, while property taxes in Ohio are regularly proposed/voted for increases to fund school construction, municipal projects and continuing school maintenance - California population grows by 2.6 million between 2000 and 2006, while Ohio grew by 125K (source is - US Census Bureau, QuickFacts Page by State). - Illegal alien issue a smidgen more significant in California than Ohio, particularly in economic impact Sure, looks likes it will spill over to me... Since CA is the leader for the nation, why didn't the home appreciation spill over to Ohio by now too? |

Quite frankly, I would hate for California to be the model for other states.
As a result of years of a mismanaged state budget in financial disarray, it stands today that we are mired in debt and other social and economic problems. It's at a crisis level, and I'm not exaggerating. |

not true. california is a great model for other states. no crime, only terrible misunderstanding all done in hawaiian shirts with lots of smiling.
kids so protective of their parents that they sit on the couch all day at 35 with skate boards to make sure their parents are ok. we have abolished winter. CA pioneered the adage, devour your mate and rise to the pinnacle of your profession. assertiveness training usage beyond the sun and over the moon. by clever divorce conditioning women have trained men not only to be non aggressive but to actually run away from near naked women. probably the greatest contribution was convincing the kidult population that they can't start work until they have 180,000 dollars in student loans a boon to the education system (flunk out rate is 50% but never mind, oh well make room on that couch) next best is our clearly superior child rearing technique based on Dr spocks work ask any penal officer. |
