Oh. Was your “conservative Governor” a Democrat?

Two things - this Pox is not novel. And we already have a vaccine if necessary. So medically speaking we are way ahead as compared to early Covid. And as a result of previous knowledge, unlikely to be like a Covid 22.

Because monkeypox virus is closely related to the virus that causes smallpox, the smallpox vaccine can protect people from getting monkeypox. Past data from Africa suggests that the smallpox vaccine is at least 85% effective in preventing monkeypox.

The U.S. keeps two vaccines for smallpox approved by the Food and Drug Administration in the Strategic National Stockpile — a product, in part, of a 9/11-enhanced fear of bioterrorism. The monkeypox virus is similar enough that researchers expect both shots to offer protection, although only one, called Jynneos, has been FDA-approved for use against monkeypox.

A smattering of monkeypox cases in Britain has prompted authorities to offer a smallpox vaccine to some healthcare workers and others who may have been exposed, as a handful more cases were confirmed in parts of Europe.
..
Copenhagen-based drugmaker Bavarian Nordic (BAVA.CO) on Thursday said it had secured a contract with an undisclosed European country to supply its smallpox vaccine, Imvanex, in response to the monkeypox outbreak.

Someone has done it with a monkey, and this is why we are in the predicament we are in.

Shouldn't be too hard to find out who is responsible - the sort of person that does these things with monkeys, is usually a boastful sort of person.

Hmmm. You may be on to something. Didn't Biden lie about being a full professor at the University of Pennsylvania, that he played a prominent role in desegregation of the schools, that he went to Israel as a liaison in the Six-Day war of 1967, that he used to drive a tractor-trailer, that he visited a Pittsburgh synagogue after a mass shooting in 2018, that he was an All-Star at the Congressional baseball game where he went 0-2, that he traveled 1.5 million miles on Amtrak, and that he would be a competent President?

Looks like Biden could be Patient Zero.
