Belarus. We're seeing new developments in Belarus, which could have major repercussions for Belarus and Ukraine. Today, Sergei Shoigu arrived in Belarus. The visit was reportedly unannounced. Straight after landing at Machulishchy Air Base, he met his Belarusian counterpart...

Probably lots of answers to that one. Here's one.

Before February, Russia was paying Ukraine to pipe gas through the country. Until 2009 80% of European gas was transited through Ukraine and transit fees were taken, and still today, the transit fees were running about 3 billion a year.
Russia would rather own all the gas and have all the customers.

Yeah, land grab and the resources that come with the lands. The areas that Russian terrorists have taken are also industrial and agricultural bases of Ukraine.

Also very important is Crimea, which contains the Russian Sevastopol naval base. Russia was paying Ukraine $90M a year to use the base. The Dictator Putin took advantage of Ukraine's unrest and invaded Crimea in 2014 and stole it.

That's why we must support Ukraine to take back their territory this time when there is a momentum to do so.

90M was the deal of the century.
Now, Putin has started a war that he will probably have to fight as long as he lives. Certainly as long as he stays in power.

It does not matter if he dies tomorrow. To the Russians the annexed lands belong to them. It does not matter if the world does not recognizes the annexations. The only get way to get the lands back is by force.

Ukraine is not getting back Crimea under any circumstances. Russia would fully mobilize before letting that happen and maybe even consider tactical nuclear weapons if that wasn't enough.

And as an above poster said, people mistakenly assume a replacement to Putin would be better than him.
