gun laws mostly need to be NATIONAL because of our glorious highway system the right repeatedly point out the state or local gun laws dont work well....the the old confederate states rights people will chime in and no national laws, good luck
Actually, states' rights are the reason that restrictions in place such as NY, NJ, and MD are legal.
The 1994 Assault Weapons Ban expired in 2004 and was not renewed, but restrictions from it never went away in some states. In NJ, it is illegal for an AR-15 to have a collapsible/foldable stock, but this does not reduce or increase the lethality of the weapon. As well, until not too long ago, magazines were limited to 15 rounds; they're now limited to 10.
States like NJ claim that they are sovereign within their borders to enact their own gun laws and tragically for freedom-loving Americans, they're right. That's why, if SCOTUS rules in favor of the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. Bruen (the decision is expected no later than the end of June 2022), NY and NJ and other such states are expected to exhaust every lawful option to make it difficult for the SCOTUS decision to take effect in these states.
Meaning, if SCOTUS rules in favor of the aforementioned gun club from NY, states like NY and NJ, which demand applicants for concealed carry permits demonstrate a justifiable need to carry a gun legally (and this is subjective and vague, thus making NY and NJ essentially "no issue" states rather than "may issue'), will be forced to issue CCW permits to applicants.
But they will then in all likelihood impose burdensome, exhaustive, and expensive conditions, such as safety training, taxes and fees (to be renewed annually), registration of the pistols, and so forth - all to discourage law-abiding Americans from even applying.
That's where states' rights come in. Will you complain about states' rights if the above scenario comes to pass?
Ideas to stop these mass shootings and gun violence in general in this country:
It would be awesome if you provided your own reasoning, yet here we are.

For legal gun owners? What about that that don't care about the law?

What about current "Gold Star" states?
This was an extremely useless cut and paste, but congrats.

Such regulations are already in effect for hunters in MOST states and they seem to get by.
Odd. In the past, I acquired a hunting permit in my very anti-2A state and it was nowhere as onerous and what I described.
Hunting and CCW are nowhere near as onerous as you described. I have both, I can tell you, it isn't real tough. They check to see if you appear on any bad guy lists, and then spend another 5 minutes filling out boxes on a computer. Send to printer, collect payment, stamp a few things. Have a nice day.
Hell, even getting NFA and Class 3 stuff is more about waiting than it is difficult. If you have the money and don't mind waiting for like 2 years, buying a belt fed heavy machine gun is perfectly legal.
FFS, you can buy bolt action rifles that fire 20mm vulcan anti-tank rounds without doing any more paperwork than buying a 22 LR range plinker. Money is all that it takes, and maybe a little patience.
