Really? In your Cops in Canada don't shoot first scenario...
Someone holding a toilet seat lid is worthy of being shot?
How about someone who was sitting in front of their computer and holding their computer mouse, that's worthy of being shot?
Why is it that the cops in Canada seem to shoot and kill more indigenous and black Canadians than whites?
You flooded your post with links about American cops, but you couldn't be bothered to include a link that proves your comment of "This guy was asked multiple times to drop his firearm but instead pointed it at the police."? Seems you have your own agenda.
I flooded the post in response to the American O/P's agenda of suggesting cops shooting first in Canada being something that does not exist in the U.S.
I believe I also said I should not have had to post any links as the world knows otherwise. Over 1,000 cop shootings last year alone compared to 36 in Canada.

Dang straight I've got an agenda!
Yeah okay, it does happen here too.
As I'd previously mentioned, I only mentioned the links because you didn't include a link to your comment of "This guy was asked multiple times to drop his firearm but instead pointed it at the police.". You're not the first to mention that, but like the other poster you didn't include a link from a spokesperson with the SIU that reflects what you posted. I'm not trying to bust yours or the other posters chops on this, it is still a breaking story, so if there are updates, such as what you mentioned, then why not post a link to it?

Do you have a link to prove that comment?
I posted those links after the poster ignored my first rebuttal and insisted on suggesting without any supportive facts, I wanted police to "shoot first and ask after" and further, being something some unspecified entity wanted the U.S. to emulate.
I am also repeating only what I've read by others BUT I would be more than shocked if this event played out otherwise with one of the multiple responding cops arriving on the scene managing to shoot him before any or all of them demanding very loudly he drop his firearm. If we learn otherwise, I will be back to eat crow.
I'm not taking the position it would never happen here because I know it has in the past but certainly not to the extent to be used by someone suggesting it being the norm and that anyone desires that trend to START happening in the U.S., as the poster clearly suggested.

That's all I'm taking umbrage with.
Hopefully it will turn out as you'd said. If it turns out different then no one wins, and I won't hold you to the eating crow thing.

Berdee; having already eaten some crow over the years, I find it goes down reasonably well with a good dollop of Dave's Ultimate Insanity hot sauce.
Actually; the statements coming out of the SIU so far are very guarded in reference to both aspects: the perp being warned vocally and, him making any threatening gestures.
BUT the SIU has also let it out that there is no shortage of video for them to search through so, my fingers are crossed the cops did the "right" thing and we do not have to go through another long protracted prosecution and trial of a cop as per:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Sammy_Yatim
That event left a very bad taste in the mouths of most Canadians because of the nature of the over-the-top shooting then tazering him while he's bleeding out when it was very evident they were not dealing with a mentally stable person and all that had to be done was wait him out while keeping him secured in the streetcar. Not one of Toronto Police service's finest days.
The other result though, was Toronto cops going through a whole bunch of fine-tooth-combing to establish training and protocols for exactly this type of occasion, so - as you say - let's hope it was fruitful and there was procedure followed.
