They don't BELONG TO HIM. National security does not rest with the 'Don'.

This is different than other searches and/or attempts to accuse Trump as this particular motion cannot be driven by political motive alone. It has to have support of a federal judge, a Trump appointed officer, and be able to stand up in court otherwise it would be a complete sham.

Now why he would even take Nuclear documents is the real question. These documents are only of use to a subset of people... foreign governments and terrorists. And it's not like these documents could have been accidentally taken or unknowingly packed in a box. These specific documents are higher than top security and are kept as hardcopy only. There's no way Trump or anyone could have inadvertently taken them. The only way Trump would have been able to take them was as part of an explicit act. Even the FBI, DOJ, and Congress don't have access to these documents.
I'm waiting to see what fleshes out from this. National security breaches are big time you are going to jail and no getting past GO. If there is any evidence he intended to monetize them he is FUBAR'ed.

There's circumstantial evidence of such already:

DOJ has already filed a motion to unseal the warrant.... so we'll likely find out soon.

If I may ask, how or why would Trump have access to such critical documents? Surely there would be security on them?

The President of the United States has access to nuclear documents on a need-to-know basis. The challenge with this level of clearance is that the reason for needing to know is classified as well.

When you are the President you have access to all national security interests and documents. That is a privilege and responsibility of the office. However when that term ends- so does the access. It is presumed that all Presidents are sworn to maintain state secrets as, well, secret.

Like said- it will be interesting to see what fleshes out. He may not have known, he may have known, and he may have known and attempted to do something with this 'stuff'.

Either way not really good for Team Trump. Especially given there is a NARC that tipped off the Fed's. Apparently there was another adult in the room that thought better and called in the Fed's.

Not necessarily. The sitting President can (and often does) allow former Presidents to maintain access. Bush did so for Clinton, as did Obama for Bush. Again, even the Top Secret clearance the President has and former Presidents may have, provides access to these high level documents on an as-needed basis.

He may have been holding onto them to use as a bargaining chip in case he needed to relocate suddenly to a country with no extradition treaty. If he is found to have sold or given them to another country, he needs to follow Julius and Ethel Rosenberg to the gas chamber.

Now you're just speculating beyond anything that has been remotely demonstrated...
